I don't have the best eyes anymore and needed a bit of extra light from the interior lights. I also was running a bunch of electrical loads and prior to adding the second battery I was really concerned about running my battery dead with the interior lights. I did that once in the desert camping up north of Victorville with my old SUV and that was a pain in the behind. I bought a few different kinds of LED lights to sample and found that the best ones were the square type.

Our dome lights are "festoon" type 31 mm in length.

It's hard to tell but the LED lights put out a more even "whiter" light verses the more harsh "orange" light of the stock incandescent ones. The two LED models are rated at a nice 24 lumens.

Swapping on the central dome light I went with a 9 LED array and soldiered the connections. In the 18 months since I did this I think they're now making arrays with the correct festoon connections. The 9 LED array is rated at 120 lumens.

I bought them from: http://www.superbrightleds.com/festoon.html

I think my rear and mirror lights are model 3022-CWHP2 and my center lights are 1156-PCB-WHP9 which will need soldering. The UAL-x12 will fit but uses a different LED 50 lumen source so it's not likely half as bright as my 120 lumens.

Just as a caution I've gone though some cheaper LED lights in my Z before settling on these. The cheaper units have a life span measured in very few hours - some as few as 40 hours!

Paul, thanks for the post.  Questions; the 3022-CWHP2 P/N does not work using search at the web site.  Next, the UAL-x12, although not as bright as yours, is it brighter than stock?  Brighter than the 3022-CWHP2?  Are the 3022-CWHP2 brighter than stock?

The LED interior lights are a good idea Paul.  I don't know if you noticed the last time we were camping, but I've got red LEDs on all but one of my interior lights, compliments of Marty.  He and his astrophotography crowd use the red interior lights so that they don't lose their night vision when out telescoping.

I left my passenger side map light stock just in case I needed the white light, but I really like the red LEDs inside when camping.  No more fishbowl effect if I turn the light on in the middle of the night.  They are not as bright as white lights but are certainly adequate to find something in the dark.  If I do need white light I've got a couple of mini-lanterns dangling from the interior ceiling net.

The ones I've got look just like the bulb on the left side in your photo.  I'm not sure where Marty found them but maybe he'll post that here.

Try 3022-WHP2

The LED's I used are 120 Lumen, the UAL-x12x is just 50 Lumen or about half as bright. The 9-LED array is way brighter than stock. I don't have a Lumen meter but I would guess that the stock bulbs are about 20 Lumen but I'm only guessing.

Thanks Paul.  Funny how the 3022-CWHP2 is listed on their site but the search engine won't find it.

That really is funny Dan.

Fredrick, do you have the numbers for the lights you used in your X?

I upgraded my interior lights long time ago with the Japanese kind Hyper Whites (not LED's though) and they are really bright. For the instrument cluster gauges, this is what I got from eBay (iTech LEDS).

I got mine at www.superbrightleds.com.

When I ordered them the part number was simply
3022-x2 LED Festoon Bulb - Red.

(the -x2 indicates the number of LEDs in the array. I tested 2, 4, and 9 for the desired brightness)

The shipping seems a bit steep on these so maybe if there is a good number of guys wanting them we should consider a group buy...

WooHoo my LEDs have already shipped.  But, just like Paul said, my WabFab slider HiLift jacking adapter thingy is a 3 week backlog. Undecided

So I ordered my LEDs late Friday and got them Wednesday.  Shipping was $5.  I really like them and I like the way Superbrightleds does business.  I can't tell if they're any brighter than stock but the light color is much nicer.  Smiley Smiley

Well im looking at buying the LEDs now.
Im looking at 2 of the 3022-WHP2 and 2 of the 3022-x4 LED Festoon bulb in either red or blue but what would be a replacement for the two lisence plate lights. One of mine burned out.
