I noticed the higher temp when I have all the skidplates on and am going to take them to a friend with a water jet cutter and have a series of holes cut into them for extra cooling. Anyone else see the heat rise with them and do this?

How big do the hole saw bits go. And can they go though 3/16 of the skid plate. Did you friend do the water jet if so post up some pics. I have been waiting off on putting on my after amrket Skid for this reason. Was wonating to cut maybe six three inch holes.

I've drilled 1/2" material on my press w/ varing sided hole saw bits.  You could easily do a 3" hole using a press.  I'd be a bit more hesitant to try it with a corded drill though.  Those last few mm could prove difficult.

Haven't done the holes yet but I did do his ceilings. Been doing a side project up in Bakersfield area my last 2 weekends and have a couple more to go before I will find the time to take the plates over to him and have the holes cut. I plan on keeping the holes smaller (1 1/2-2 inch)and leave enough material in between them as to keep the strength of the plates. For those of you thinking about doing this mod, don't place any holes under the tranny pan or engine pan for protection reasons. Also stagger the rows of holes for maximum strength retention. Don't lay them out in a checker board pattern.

Random holes are OK as long as your wife doesn't find out. Have the work done out of state
