You are in, we had a cancellation. Got your PM, thanks.
Are you heading back to your campsite after the run?
That is the plan, did you want to make a meet up there for the group after the run?

Actually, was going to ask a favor. I have someone riding shotgun with me (Christiaan, xxSVxx) who is leaving his 2WD Xterra at the meet spot, and was hoping someone could shuttle him back to the K-Mart to pick up his X.
Some of us (including myself) are staying in Big Bear for the night after the run, and I am sure we will look to grab dinner somewhere with the group for those that want to attend.
There are several good places to eat and wash down the dust in Big Bear, which we can discuss the day of.

I'm sure I could do a little shuttling. How far is the dinner spot from the trail head?

Well...that is the complicated part. Are you camping in Big Bear or Lucerne Valley?
Christiaan would like to leave his Xterra (2WD) in the K-Mart parking lot/meet spot and have someone take him back there after the run. We are eating in Big Bear, and I am spending the night there.
Sounds to me like you are camping in Big Bear as well, and the shuttle idea probably won't work for you. No worries. We may ask to see if someone can pick him up on the way, maybe in Rancho Cucamonga, and then run him back down on their way back to town. LA/SD.

This is a fantastic run, always one of the best of the year Don't forget the side trip to the old mine and the drywater falls. We normally have lunch there. Wish I could go, but michael is playing in the big state cup soccer tournament that weekend so have fun and be safe. Brian

If you can help with getting Christiaan back to his truck that would be great, thank you Chris. I will talk with Don (Goldfish) or Oz on where to stop for lunch/etc. and look for the mine as well.

I don't know about the mine that Brian is talking about. The last time I went with SCCX we stopped for lunch here: 34* 15' 51,19"N, 116* 39 42.07"W. It is right above Vaughn Springs.

Thanks Don, let's see how the group moves and go from there. Where is Vaughn Springs on the trail?

I've been to those mines. There are several along the way. They are vertical shafts that drop about 40' ft with an old rickety wooden pulley system above ground that are no longer functional. A rope tied to a truck, a flashlight, and you are good to go.

I don't think we will have time this trip to get that in depth (pun intended) with mine exploration, but was just curious as I have never ventured that far off the trail. If its not too late, im in along with another X which is my brother in laws. Count us in, Erwin and Butch.
I will add you both to the wait list, as right now we are capped at 30 trucks. Please scroll throught the previous posts for the wait list protocols/Xcursion Guidelines. Are both of your Xterra's 4WD?
