Wow a whole rebuild, but no upgrade in power?  It might be easier to do a 350 swap with a complete Chevy Z71 engine and tranny from a junk yard. 

Good job, but definately not something I could have done (or wanted to tackle).

No, I actually did a full port & polish on mine.  Took about 3 weeks to complete and another 2 days to re-assemble the motor.  I can now go up the El Cajon pass on the 15 fwy going to Victorville without having to shift into 4th gear.  It feels like I picked up mainly torque and response but then again, I do feel the need to upgrade the fuel pump 'cause I'm running a little lean.  Once I change that, it'll really wake up the motor.  Right now I'm going to concentrate on headers, changing out the 02 sensors, upgrading the cats, and getting a custom exhaust.

  yeah with a port and polish you shouold see some gain in the Pony area
