(Class time includes short hourly breaks and a 45 minute lunch break.)

Those who register will receive detailed instructions and study materials to review before the day of the class.   While walk-ins may be permitted if space is available, advance review of the study materials is strongly recommended.  Those unwilling to follow registration and confirmation instructions may  be ineligible to attend the class.

See http://web.me.com/sandiegohamclasses/ for more information.

This is an entry-level class for beginners, and no previous knowledge about radio or electricity is necessary to take the class or pass the exam.

The Amateur Radio Service (Ham Radio) has practical applications from providing emergency communications and supporting civic events, to education and recreation.

Those who pass the end-of-the-day exam will receive a radio license and call sign from the FCC which entitles them to transmit on VHF and UHF Amateur  Radio frequencies.

Previous Posting:

I received this from Roger Mullins over at Just Runs.  Hoping a few people here would be interested.  I am signing my son up for sure.

From Just Runs:

I am trying to put together enough people to get a Class scheduled for the Amateur Radio Operator License (Ham). The class would be for the Technician License (Entry Level License). The class would be 8 hours with the multiple choice test given immediately following the class.

No class date has been set yet but it would likely be either in late winter or early spring. The class would be held either in El Cajon or Crest. The class would be free but there is a small charge for the test (about $10).

This is probably the quickest and easiest way to get the license. Taking the test immediately following the class usually results in over 90% of the students passing the test their first try.

If you might be interested in the class, email me at justruns@yahoo.com and put Ham Class in the Subject.
JustRuns encourages members to obtain their Ham license and install a Ham radio in their vehicle.

JustRuns membership is not be required in order to take the class.
