There are few things cooler than a steam locomotive. The Union Pacific 844 has been touring New Mexico and Arizona and will be swinging through So Cal on its way back home. Check out the schedule below, I know it will be coming through the neighborhoods of some of you. Great photo opportunity.

Thanks for posting that Dan. I see that the train will be stopped for service at Kelso on Sunday 20 November. That would be fun to see.

Takes me back to my childhood when my dad and I used to do trainwatching back in Indy -- plenty of railroad yards in the city because of the automotive industry and the central location between St Louis, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Louisville.  Wouldn't mind going down to Bloomington to see this, but unfortunately I'll be at work that day. :-(

Not a big train guy but this does look pretty cool.  If I don't work that day I'll check it out in Bloomington.  Thanks for posting this.....I would have never known about it otherwise.

That looks like it would be kind of fun to see, esp. out at Kelso.

That would be cool to see but the closest it gets to the San Diego area is Bloomington, CA.

Thanks for posting this Dan. If I get on the road early enough I may stop on my way out to the desert next Friday.

I may have to change my plans just to see this.

You can also check the San Bernardino County Railroad museum at www.sbdepotmuseum.com for more details on the trains visit to SoCal during the week.

My brother-in-law and I drove out to Kelso and watched the trail come in and them set up down the road for some action shots.  It was epic!
