My SES light just came on and I did the self diagnostic run. The turn the key and press the pedal sequence process. I came up with the codes 0328 and it references as a "knock sen/circ-B1" and code 1148 "closed loop B-1". My question is this, are these 2 related? They both reference "B-1". Seeing that they both came up at the same time and that they both list "B-1", my fear is that the sensor is bad and needs to be changed.

I cleared the codes and took the truck for a 15 mile run and rechecked it and the 0328 came back even though it didn't reactivate the SES light. The 1148 stayed cleared but I want to take the truck for about a 50 mile run up to Huntington and back and see if it reappears.
I am not looking forward to replacing the knock sensor, if that is what it actually is. Could this be caused by something else like bad plugs, bad gas (not the type one would release in an elevator or other confined space), or a worn bushing on the distributor? I really don't want to remove the intake manifold again. I did that once before because it had a coolant leak on the passenger side at the rear next to cylinder #5 intake port. I thought about changing the knock sensor back then but that is a wouldacouldashoulda moment in history now.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions you all might have.

It sounds like you need both.  You're going to have to start using a better grade of gas and do the full tune-up:  hi performance plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and check timing.

The knock sensor will not trip the MIL on its own.  There are lots of v6 Nissans running around with the knock sensor code and no MIL.

Sounds like you need to do some diagnostics before you start chucking parts at it.

Thanks guys. I got a CRecorder unit and I am going to pop it on and see if it brings up anything. It is a car running data recorder that plugs onto the diagnostics port and records all the vitals. I got it for free from a group that stayed at my hotel a year ago but I never got around to using it. Time to see if it lives up to its claims.
